President Uhuru Kenyatta has appointed 24 new envoys.
In the appointments, President Kenyatta also named seven ambassadors who will serve as Deputy Heads of Missions and four officials to the post of Consul-General.
The Consuls-General are Dennis Mburu ( Arusha,Tanzania), Dennis Waweru (DRC), Benson Mwaliko (Hargesia – Somaliland) and Tomas Kwaka Omolo (Los Angeles, US).
Among the notable appointments are Tomas Kwaka Omolo, alias Big Ted who will be posted as consul-general toLos Angeles, US former ICT Permanent Secretary Bitange Ndemo (Ambassador to Belgium) and former National Assembly clerk Michael Sialai who will head to Namibia as the high commissioner.
The new ambassadors are Harriet Nduma (Vienna Australia), Dennis Makobu (Brussels, Belgium), Edwin Afande (Beijing, China), George Kwanya (Addis Ababa, Ethiopia), Sammy Ngumbao (Tokyo, Japan) and Jane Githinji (Moscow, Russia).
Nyeri Deputy Governor Dr Caroline Wanjiru Karugu has been appointed as the Ambassador to Denmark, Diana Kiambuthi to Rwanda, Ambassador Michael Oyugi (Spain) Maj Gen ( Rtd ) Thomas Chepkuto (Somalia), Ambassador Isaac Njenga (Tanzania), Leonard Boiyo (Turkey) and Maj Gen (Rtd ) George Owino (Uganda).
Additionally, the president has also appointed Nancy Karigithu as ambassador and Special Envoy for Maritime and Blue Economy. She was until the appointment Principal Secretary, State Department for Shipping and Maritime in the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure.
Prof Richard Bosire is now the Ambassador and Permanent Representative to UNESCO, while South Sudan’s Reconstituted Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission interim chairman Maj Gen (Rtd) Charles Gituai is now Kenya’s envoy to Igad.
Six senior Foreign Service officers at the headquarters have also been promoted to the rank of ambassador. They are Fredrick Matwang’a, Philip Githiora, Betty Cherwon, Angeline Musili, Peris Kariuki and Yabesh Monari.
