DJIBOUTI – Djibouti, the small Horn of Africa country, on Wednesday, announced 72 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of confirmed patients to 435.
The government of Djibouti also announced two deaths and four recoveries.
Djibouti first confirmed the country’s first case of Covid19 on March 18.
Health authorities reported the patient as a Spanish national who arrived on a military flight and was directly put in quarantine with no contact with the Djiboutian population.
“Other Spanish military passengers are being quarantined with support from the French military base,” the Ministry said.
On Monday, Djibouti reported 83 new cases, bringing the country’s total to 298 — out of 4,451 tests.
This is one of the highest in the Horn of Africa.
Kenya is second with 225 cases, 10 deaths and 53 recoveries.
Ethiopia is third with 85 infections, 15 recoveries and three deaths.
In Somalia, Covid-19 deaths have increased to five after three people passed away on Wednesday.
Twenty new cases recorded, bring the total number of coronavirus patients in Somalia to 80.
The government has announced a curfew starting Wednesday at 8pm.
Uganda is fourth with 55 cases, 12 recoveries and zero deaths.
Eritrea has 35 cases, all who are still in hospital, according to Information Minister Yemane Meskel.
Sudan has 32 cases, five deaths and four recoveries.
South Sudan has only reported four cases and zero deaths.
