KDF soldiers under Amison foiled an attack by the Al-Shabaab militants on Somali Security Forces on Saturday, May 16, killing five.
The 20 Al-Shabaab terrorists attacked SSF (Jubaland Security Forces in particular according to Amisom} in Bilis Qooqani from three directions.
“A KDF unit also stationed in the area responded by dispatching a special platoon of soldiers to support the Somali Security Forces,” a statement by the Ministry of Defence said on Sunday.
After the gun fight that ensued, three militants lay dead. KDF recovered five AK-47 firearms and several rounds of ammunition.

KDF said it will continue to work closely with SSF in support of operations to restore peace in Somalia.
“Additionally, KDF will continue to build capacity of SSF and assisit them in stabilisation, reconciliation and peace building in Somalia,” the statement said.
Head of Amisom hailed KDF for the courage,bravery and professionalism they showed during the gunfight.
“He congratulated them for yet another victory against Al-Shabaab, as they fulfill AMISON mandate in Somalia,” a statement by Amisom said.
