Nyali MP Mohammed Ali alias Moha Jicho Pevu has suffered a blow after his bid to impeach Transport and Infrastructure CS James Macharia was termed inadmissible.
This is after National Assembly Speaker Justine Muturi ruled that the motion did not meet the threshold for removal.
“Hon @SpeakerJBMuturi has issued a Communication to the House, Stating the Inadmissibility of the Notice of Motion issued by Nyali MP Hon @MohaJichoPevu, intending to impeach the Transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia,” National Assembly tweeted on Tuesday.
Muturi said the Nyali MP did not provide evidence to the allegations against CS Macharia.
“It is therefore my determination that the proposed motion is not admissible. The Clerk is thereby directed to communicate to the honourable member,” Muturi said.
In response, Ali tweeted, “ CS James Macharia, spend all you have, play all the dirty games but I am coming for you!”
In a statement dated June 6, Ali communicated his intentions to remove Macharia from office.
He accused CS Macharia of “committing perjury, failing to deliver on key infrastructures such as bridges, highways, seaports and airports”.
“He also failed to account for the loss of Sh1.5 billion meant for Suraya Property Housing Project in Nairobi. Macharia was also involved in the loss of Sh.2 billion,” the statement said.
The Nyali legislator added that he sought Macharia’s impeachment “for the people of Mombasa who are doomed to serious economic loss because of his actions in forcing through illegal actions to prop up the profitability of the SGR,”
“I do this to send a message to cartels that have settled comfortably into patterns of theft from the public purse under the cabinet secretaries’ watch,”
According to the Nyali MP, Kenyans should not place their confidence in a person who has breached laws to the advantage of the corrupt.
