Raila Odinga’s ODM party and Deputy President William Ruto on Wednesday engaged in a fresh war of words on social media, in an online onslaught that has been ongoing since Kibra by-election.

In the fresh attack, DP Ruto said Raila must publicly renounce violence as a political tool and undertake to accept defeat.

“Tinga/his party’s trail of political conmanship /deceit from Kanu thro’ Cord to Nasa & now heading to Jubilee; and litany of violence from 82’coup to kibra cannot be hidden behind BBI. As a Minimum must 1) PUBLICLY renounce violence as a political tool. 2) UNDERTAKE to accept defeat,” the DP tweeted.

In a rejoinder, ODM said Ruto and his team had planned to rig in the Kibra by-election.

ODM’s Imran Okoth beat Jubilee’s McDonald Mariga in the tense mini-poll.

“They had planned to RIG the Kibra by-election just like they have been rigging. We were smarter. We beat them in their own GAME. They are bitter. So bitter than even the garden pepper. Kenyans are no longer going to allow their WILL to be SUBVERTED by power hungry person(s),” the party tweeted.

Earlier, the Orange part had said Tangatanga leaders, affiliated with the DP, should stop sideshows and accept defeat.

“Tangatanga should stop juvenile/infantile tirades over the just concluded Kibra by-election. Dragging the names of CS Fred Matiang’I and PS Karanja Kibicho into their agony of losing the by-election does and cannot wash. ODM won clean. Their bad manners were thwarted by Kibrans,” the party said.

“Sideshows won’t turn back the clock. They should accept and move on. We want the whining Tangatanga functionaries to know that while Raila Odinga is a voter in Kibra, the two-state officers aren’t and would have no interest in the constituency outside their official mandate,” ODM said.
