The knife-wielding man who was shot on Monday as he tried to access State House had sent threats on his Facebook page.

Brian Bera, 25, and a mechanical engineering student at Jkuat on Sunday posted on Facebook, “To: Thief President Uhuru Kenyatta and his partners …Tomorrow I attack State House. God has sent me to execute judgement on every thief and every partner of a thief.{From Prince Of Ethiopia, formerly called Brian Kibet Bera}”. (sic)

True to his word, he attempted to access State House and was shot on the left shoulder by officers manning the House on the Hill as he tried to access it through the fence on Gate B.

A look at his timeline shows some disturbing posts.

In one, he says, “Our enemies fear the public from rising up in arms against them. They fear the truth. The reason I post without fear is because, they cannot arrest me. If they arrest me, my people will kill them because I am final year BSc Mechanical Engineering. They cannot kill me, because if they kill me, my people will kill them. Please let me reveal the truth to my people.”

He then posted, “It is a spiritual war. The devil has no power to kill me. He may only torture me. I will not allow myself to be captured because I will be tortured with drugs. Remember Samson was never killed by Philstines. Only torture. I am dropping out of school. Schooling is torture and spiritually satanic. It drives me away from God.” (sic)

An incident report at Kileleshwa police station reported by a GSU officer attached to State House read in part, “Today at around 1605hrs one male adult trespassed into State House by climbing over “Gate Bravo” and upon being challenged by officers manning the said gate, he drew out a knife which prompted officers to fire at him where he sustained a gunshot wound on the left shoulder plate.”

Police said after interrogation, they found out that Bera was a fifth-year student at Jkuat pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

Recovered from him were a national and a university ID and the knife he had earlier brandished.

He was initially booked at Kileleshwa police station before he was taken to hospital.

Police say he will be charged as soon as he stabilises.
