Kenya, Zambia sign 6 MoUs to enhance tourism, trade and investment

Kenya and Zambia on Wednesday June 15 signed six bilateral MoUs geared towards deepening the bilateral relations.

The signing was witnessed by President Uhuru Kenyatta and visiting President Hakainde Hichilema of Zambia at State House, Nairobi..

The bilateral instruments of cooperation signed after President Kenyatta and President Hichilema held a one-on-one meeting and later led their delegations in bilateral talks, State House Spokesperson Kanze Dena said in a statement.

The MoUs are on cooperation in veterinary and animal health, international relations studies and research, promotion of cooperatives, a deal between the Kenya Tourism Federation and the Tourism Council Zambia, and agreement between the Kenya Utalii College and the Zambia Institute for Tourism and Hospitality Studies, and cooperation in information, communication and technology.

“The two leaders agreed that the signing of the instruments of cooperation sets out an extensive framework for the consolidation and deepening of relations for the mutual benefit of the people of the two countries,” the statement said.

President Hichilema said the agreements will see enhanced partnerships in tourism, trade and investment as well as integrated peace and unity for development.

During the visit, the Zambian leader will visit iHub and the Maramba tea factory in Limuru, Kiambu county.

President Hichilema arrived in Kenya on Wednesday for a two-day state visit  and was honoured with a guard of honour mounted by a detachment of the Kenya Air Force and a 21-gun-salute.

Upon his arrival, he said e was in Nairobi to enhance trade and investment opportunities between the two states, and place Zambia on the world map as an ambitious country whose focus is economic development for the people.
