Besieged Kiambu county governor, Ferdinand Waititu Babayao, and his equally estranged wife, Susan Ndungu, were on Tuesday taken up for remand, after failing to post bail.

Charged over a Ksh.588 million scandal involving the irregular award of tenders, Waititu failed to post a Sh. 15 million cash bail while his wife did not raise Sh.4 million for the same purpose. Alternatively, they were required by the Anti Corruption Court to submit Sh. 30 million and Sh. million as bonds, respectively.

The court also ordered the two suspects to deposits all travel and associated documents with the court. Further, Waititu has been barred from accessing Kiambu County Government’s offices during the entire trial period.
