Kenya’s High Commissioner to South Africa Catherine Muigai Mwangi led members of staff at the mission in Pretoria in marking the World Environment Day by cleaning and clearing plastics, broken bottles and litter at the Taifa House Chancery and its environs.

This year’s World Environment Day, June 5, was on the theme ‘ecosystem restoration’ and focus on resetting our relation with nature. It also marked the launch of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration 2021-2030.

The day is the United Nations’ flagship day for promoting worldwide awareness and action for the environment. Over the years, it has grown to be the largest global platform for environmental public outreach and is celebrated by millions of people across the world.
