Hurray! Another Kenyan film, Disconnect, makes it to Netflix

Kenyans just keep winning and winning!

Today, we got word that Netflix is taking up the film dubbed ‘Disconnect‘. The film first made its debut in 2018. It is a Kenyan romantic comedy film directed by David ‘Tosh’ Gitonga and Michael Jones.

Disconnect is set to debut on Netflix on Friday, 16th October 2020.

The film stars knowns actor and actress Nick Mutuma and Brenda Wairimu who lead a diverse cast which explores the dating scene in Nairobi.

It will be the second Kenyan film to debut on Netflix.

Just last week, Netflix announced that the film dubbed ‘Sincerely, Daisy‘ is coming this Friday on Netflix.

The film’s trailer was released on YouTube on September 2 and going by the comments posted so far, there is a palpable air of anticipation for the first ever Kenyan movie scheduled to premiere on Netflix.

The film is directed by Nick Mutuma and whose main actress is Ella Maina, who has earned herself a legion of fans by playing Shee on NTV’s show Trap House.

On 23rd June 2020, Nick Mutuma took to his Twitter to share is hopes and dreams. Having been in the film industry, he had high hopes of making it big.

“I just wanna see one of my films on Netflix though, a man can dream,” Nick posted.

Today, seems like his dreams have more than come true. Not only has one film made it to Netflix but two. He was also in disbelief.

“My palms are sweaty. This is amazing!!! God is amazing,” Nick Tweeted.

Dreams do come to life! So never stop dreaming. Dream big and do not be afraid to hope. Nick Mutuma is a perfect example of this.

The film guru started to dream a while back.
