12 Kenyans die of Covid-19 in a day, 3 succumb at home

Twelve more Kenyans have succumbed to Covid-19, the highest number of fatalities in a day since March 13 when the first case was reported in Kenya.

Announcing the latest numbers on Monday, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said all the 12 are from Nairobi, and three died at home.

The total number fatalities now stands at 197.

Kagwe further announced 189 new cases tested in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in Kenya to10,294.

The new cases were picked from 1,205 samples, which means the country has so far tested 216,242, short of its 250, 000 mass testing target.

From the new cases, 106 are male while 83 are female. The youngest is a five -year-old child while the oldest is 71 years.

Kagwe also announced some 65 more patients have been discharged from various hospitals, bringing to 2,946 the total number of recoveries.
