Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho’s bodyguard has tested positive for coronavirus. The bodyguard and three others have been placed under mandatory quarantine.

Reports indicate the bodyguard tested positive while in Nairobi and has been taken into quarantine at Mombasa Beach Hotel.

According to a local daily, the bodyguard had escorted the governor for Senate hearings and tested positive after the sessions.

This was before the governor jetted out of the country to visit ODM leader Raila Odinga. The former prime minister had gone to Dubai to undergo a minor surgery.

“The good thing is that he is asymptomatic and there is no need of having him admitted,” a source is quoted by the publication.

Governor Joho and his staff undergo mandatory testing every two weeks as a measure of protecting them from the virus. This is because the governor interacts with a lot of people in his line of duty.
