Jambo Pay directors set to testify as witnesses in Sh1 billion NHIF corruption case

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji will treat Jambo Pay directors as prosecution witnesses in the Sh1 billion NHIF corruption case.

In a letter signed by Senior Assistant DPP Alexander Muteti the three persons namely; Danson Muchemi Njuji (Web Tribe chief executive), Robert Muriithi Muna and M/S Webtribe Limited are set to be made prosecution witnesses who will testify in the case.

“In sworn affidavits, Jambo Pay directors implicated the then NHIF Management in the corruption case. Charges against them have subsequently been withdrawn under section 87(a) of Criminal Prosecution Code,” The Office of The Director of Public Prosecutions wrote.

Haji told the court that the directors will be useful as prosecution witnesses since they will give evidence against their co-accused persons over the award of over the Sh1 billion contract to their firm to manage NHIF revenue collection.

The three are expected to commit themselves to fully cooperate with the ODPP in the prosecution. The hearing of the case will commence on Sunday, 18th October 2020.
