Kenya’s confirmed Covid-19 cases near the 20,000 mark

Kenya is hurtling towards 20,000 confirmed coronavirus cases as the Ministry of Health announced 544 more cases on Wednesday.

544 individuals tested positive from a sample size of 5,259 samples covered within 24 hours. 340 of the confirmed cases were from male individuals while 204 females tested positive for coronavirus. The number of all tested samples now rests at 289,759. In a similar period of time, health facilities discharged 113 Covid-19 patients putting the recovery figure at 8.021.

The number of deaths from coronavirus now stands at 311 after 13 more patients succumbed to the virus.

During the briefing, conducted at the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council offices, Kagwe cited the presence of cold weather as an aggravating factor in the spread of coronavirus. He used this factor to urge caution in contact and social interactions.
