OMAR Lali, the boyfriend of Keroche heiress Tecra Muigai who died on May 2 has been charged with murder in a Lamu court.
Tecra died at a private house in Shella, Lamu Island, where she was staying with Lali.
Following her death, Lali was arrested on suspicion that he pushed Tecra to her death.
Lali was, however, released on a Sh300, 000 bail after the court rejected an application by the DPP and the DCI to continue holding Lali in detention.

Omar Lali, boyfriend to the late Tecra Muigai, was freed on Sh300, 000 cash bail after court declined to extend his detention. Omar was released by a Lamu Law Court after spending 21 days behind bars.
Lamu Principal Magistrate Allan Temba refused to continue holding the suspect because the DPP had failed to decide what crime to charge him with.
But in June, Directorate of Criminal Investigations boss George Kinoti maintained there was enough evidence to prove Tecra was murdered.
“We have enough evidence to prove that it was murder,” Kinoti said.
But Lali says Tecra’s death was accidental. He got to the apartment, had dinner, took some Vodka and stretched out on the couch.
Lali claims he was woken up by a loud sound. He found Tecra had fallen down the stairs and was unresponsive.
However, according to police sources, Tecra might have been involved in a fight with her boyfriend in a cottage in Lamu.
