Former Tanzania President John Magufuli will be buried on March 25, his successor madam Suluhu Hassan has announced.
Upon her swearing-in Suluhu on Friday, President Suluhu said Magufuli will be buried at his Chato home next Thursday.
He will be accorded a state burial.
The body will be moved from the mortuary on March 20 for prayers at St Peter’s Catholic Church. The public will pay their last respects at Uhuru Gardens. The remains will then be moved to Dar es Salaam on March 21 for another session of public viewing
Residents of Dodoma will pay their respects on March 22, before being moved to Mwanza for viewing the following day.
The former President’s family will pay its final respects on March 24 at his Chato home a day before the burial.
The day was also declared a public holiday.
