Interior Principal Secretary Dr. Karanja Kibicho on Wednesday stated that the government will conduct a second round of Huduma Namba mass registration.
Those who missed the chance to register in the first round are now going to get a chance to register in the second round.
Interior PS Karanja Kibicho says production of Huduma Namba e-card will commence before end of the year after the second mass registration.
PS Kibicho was speaking to the National Assembly Committee Delegated Legislation Committee on the status of the program and said that the set up of the production center is 90% complete and process will start before the end of the year.
“After we have done preliminary printing, we have been directed to conduct the second mass registration. After that people will have to be walking to Registrar of Persons’ office in future,” PS Kibicho said.
He went on to add that, “Huduma Namba card is free of charge. If you lose it and want to replace it you will be charged Kshs.100.”
The PS stated that there will be four types of cards. These four cards are The Minors card for those below the age of six. The Adults Huduma card for those above 18. The Foreign Nationals card and finally the Refugees Huduma card.
He said the e-card will have all the data merged and installed in an electronic chip hence Kenyans may no longer need to use documents such Identity Cards, NHIF and NSSF cards.
