Mutula Kilonzo Jr ranked best performing Senator, Murkomen comes in second

According to an recent survey by research firm Infotrak, Makueni’s Mutual Kilonzo Jr is ranked as the best performing Senator in Kenya.

Mutula who is serving his second term in the Senate floored his counterparts by scoring 66.4 percent. The research was conducted between November 2019 and January 2020.

The Senators were ranked based on their performance in both the House and in their counties.

Elgeyo Marakwet’s Kipchumba Murkomen scored 58.8 percent earning him second place according to the survey. Samburu’s Steve Lelegwe came in third with 57.2 percent. Kwale’s Issa Juma came in fourth with 55.4 percent while Kakamega’s Cleophas Malala came in fifth with 54.8 percent.

The findings released on Wednesday had Tana River Senator Wario Golich Juma ranked as the worst-performing Senator scoring himself 36.4 percent.

“The question we were asking the respondents is how they would rate the overall performance of their senators on a scale of 1-10, where one meant worst, and 10 the best,” said Infotrak CEO Angela Ambitho.

Also in the last five worst-performing Senators include Wajir’s Abdulahi Ibrahim scoring 39.1 percent, Nyandarua’s Mwangi Paul Githiomi scoring 39.8 percent, Trans Nzoia’s Michael Mbito scoring 39.9 percent and Kajiado’s Mpayeei Salau who scored 40.1 percent.
