Police IG orders arrest of MPs Ndindi Nyoro, Alice Wahome over Murang’a chaos

Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai has ordered the arrest of MPs Ndindi Nyoro (Kiharu) and Alice Wahome (Kandara) for allegedly mobilising goons who caused mayhem at Kenol, Murang’a county, on Sunday.

Equally the motor vehicles which were hired to ferry goons be tracked and detained to assist in Investigation, the IG said.

Chaos erupted as pro-Tangatanga and pro-Kieleweke groups clashed near a church that Deputy President William Ruto was scheduled to attend. Two buses with youths landed in the town in the morning and proceeded to AIPCA church and started throwing stones into its compound.

This in turn angered Kenol residents who came out in large numbers and repulsed the youths towards the Kenol-Thika highway where they eventually cornered and beat them up. Cornered, some of the youths who had thrown stones said they had been mobilised by politicians with the promise of receiving Sh1,000 pay.

Two people were reported dead and several others injured.

Mutyambai immediately instructed the Director of Internal Affairs Unit (IAU) and two senior DCI officers to investigate the violence.

“Stern action will be taken against any person engaging in planning and executing unlawful acts, ” Mutyambai said.
