Igathe formally exits Equity as Warui takes over

Equity Bank Kenya Ltd has made changes in its top leadership with the appointment of Gerald Warui as the Managing Director. This development follows the exit of Polycarp Igathe, who, briefly, served as the Managing Director.

Igathe has transitioned to Vivo Africa where he is set to serve as the Executive Vice President in charge of Sales and Marketing.

“The Board thanks Mr. Igathe for his dedicated and impactful service to Equity and wishes him well in his new role with one of the Equity’s most valued partners and look forward to deepening the existing relationship across the continent,” Equity Group stated in a newsletter circulated to newsrooms.

Warui, the new MD has served Equity Group for 21 years in various capacities. He holds an Executive Master of Business Administration degree from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) and is a Certified Public Accountant CPA (K).
