Kenya has finally secured its non-permanent seat at the UN Security Council.
Kenya managed to secure the two-thirds majority in the second round, garnering 129 votes against Djibouti’s 62 on Thursday.
Djibouti had on Wednesday denied Kenya the slot, garnering 78 votes against Kenya’ 113 out of 192 member states..
Kenya now joins India, Mexico, Norway and Ireland among the 10 non-permanent members, who will work alongside the permanent five —Russia, China, UK, US, France — in the 2021-22 period.
