Kirinyaga County Assembly has voted to impeach governor Anne Waiguru, with the majority of MCAs voting yes.
23 MCAs spent Monday night at the Assembly in preparation for today’s impeachment motion against Governor Anne Waiguru.
In the impeachment meeting, 23 MCAs voted yes, four abstained while 6 of the 33 ward representatives were absent.
The MCAs wanted Anne Waiguru impeached on grounds of violation of the constitution, abuse of office and gross misconduct.
Earlier, Waiguru had rubbished the impeachment motion, claiming there was a valid curt order stopping the ouster until her case was determined.
She said proceeding with the motion would be in contempt of the court.

Waiguru was referring to a court order dated 7th April, which had temporarily stopped the impeachment because of coronavirus.
Waiguru vowed to sue the speaker and those participating in the motion for contempt of court orders.
Moreover, there was confusion at the assembly on Tuesday morning as Waiguru supporters insisted there was valid court order stopping the impeachment. Her opponents insisted that the orders had lapsed as the matter was not prosecuted.
The impeachment motion will now move to the senate.
