Moses Wetangula, the current Bungoma Senator, and former Leader of Minority, in the Senate is
set to meet detectives for answers on his role in a gold scandal, currently rocking the nation.
The now infamous fake gold scam, involving leading political figures in the country, is taking a
new twist at the turn of every hour. On Thursday, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal
Investigation, questioned Jared Otieno, over his role in the scandal. Now, sleuths from the
directorate have lined up Bungoma senator for questioning over the same issue.
Among the issues he answer questions on is justifying his visit to Dubai in September. Mr.
Wetangula had, in a Tweet on September 4, shared that he was in Dubai for a business meeting.
In what now turns to be an international syndicate, the DCI is reportedly, seeking to unravel the
role of individuals from the DRC, Russia and Dubai.
The DCI’s tray, on the issue, is full as they question, and detain, various Kenyan personalities
involved in the now rogue deal. While arresting Mr. Otieno, investigation officers also towed
two prime vehicles from his residence in Karen. The two luxury cars, a Porsche and a Bentley,
are among the most prized vehicles in the world.
A Mr. Zaheer Zhanda is listed as a mastermind, in a scandal that has roped in top leadership from
the UAE. Also lined for questioning are former Senator Chris Obure, Don Bosco Gichana, and a
Logistics’ operator Richard Kubo.
