Most Kenyans are busy following the covid-19 preventive measures such as wearing masks and exercising social distancing.

However, some politicians have proven to be the biggest lawbreakers as they publicly flout the restrictions set by the Ministry of Health.

On the night of June 1, President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga broke curfew rules. According to the constitution, no one is above the law.

In a viral CCTV footage, the duo met at Nairobi CBD during the night and took a stroll along Kenyatta Avenue.

They were accompanied by armed police officers. The streets were empty as law-abiding Kenyans were at home observing curfew rules.

If a common mwananchi was caught outside at that time, there’s no telling if they could have lived to see another day.

No consequences have befallen them and they have managed to get away with it, preaching water and drinking wine.

On May 29, COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli invited over 40 politicians to his home in Kajiado. Atwoli and some of the other politicians did not have face masks and were all closely crowded together.

Moreover, most are 55 years and above, with higher chances of succumbing to covid-19 if they contract it.

Politics, which has been there and will always be there, seemed to be more important than their good health.

Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa and Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka were also in attendance.

Again, no legal measures were taken against the politicians.
