Interior PS Kibicho now turns to police over Ruto harassment
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Interior Principal Secretary Dr Karanja Kibicho, yesterday filed a formal complaint at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), alleging that his boss, Dr William Ruto, is harassing him.

In a strange twist, Kibicho, who heads security agencies, in his capacity as the accounting officer in the Ministry of Interior, opted to file a complaint rather than respond to summons by the DCI.

While Kibicho has found himself at loggerheads with the Deputy President for at least a year now, current developments emanate from the assassination claims shared by Ruto on Monday, this week.

Kibicho had been mentioned as the convener of a meeting at La Mada Hotel along Thika Road, where the plot against Ruto allegedly featured, prompting the summoning of the three CSs by the DCI on Monday.

The PS was expected to appear at the DCI headquarters to record a statement as a person of interest, but ended up going there as a  complainant.

Officials said that the PS recorded a statement over what he feels is sustained harassment from the DP and cited an incident in which he had an altercation with Ruto at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) last month.

Ruto and Kibicho incidentally denied that the incident happened at the time.

Ruto is alleged to have confronted Kibicho demanding to know why he was frustrating his official duties by instructing top security officers in counties to keep off his functions.
