During the event in Budapest, President Sulyok hailed the 60 years of cordial diplomatic relations between the two countries, adding that the presentation of letters of credence will elevate diplomatic relations to new levels.

Hungary was the sixth country to establish relations with Kenya in 1964.

The envoy presented his credentials in time for Foreign Affairs Minister Musalia Mudavadi’s official visit.

Among the two topics discussed, the Embassy in Vienna said in a statement, was the strengthening and deepening trade and economic relations.

“This will be done by enhancing the existing partnerships in the fields of agriculture, education, water management, nuclear energy and exploring new opportunities for partnership in the field of health among others,” the statement said.

In addition, President Sulyok applauded Kenya’s continued efforts towards finding sustainable regional peace and security.

“After the presentation of credentials ceremony, the Ambassador proceeded to the Heroe’s square, in the middle of the beautiful city of Budapest. This is where a Memorial Stone was built to honour the soldiers who died in the First World War. Amb. Makoloo had the privilege to lay a wreath and show his respects,” the embassy said.
