On Tuesday morning, fellow actress Tina Wamwati, aka Lorna, shared the distressing news.

She asked fans to follow the Maria lead actress on her new social media handle.

“Fam unfortunately her account has been stolen and I’m kindly asking that we help her rebuild. Please follow her and let’s prove to them that they got the wrong one,” reads part of Tina’s post.

Yasmin created a new account because she could not retrieve the old one after it was hacked.

The lead actress urged Kenyans to ignore the old account, which had garnered more than 100, 000 followers.

The talented actress urged people not to respond to the direct messages (dms) of the hacked account.

“Good morning. Unfortunately my official account has been hacked and I can’t retrieve it. Kindly guys please don’t  respond to the SMS or anything he or she posts,” the celebrated actress said.

Her fans have shown support. She has garnered over 1000 followers in over an hour in the new account.

Maria is one of the leading shows in Kenya, aired on Citizen TV. Since its inception, it has taken the country by storm and garnered many viewers.

Fellow actors and actresses in the Citizen TV series have also come out to show support to one of their own.
