Renewed hope? No Covid-19 deaths in two successive days

Health CS Mutahi Kagwe  on Tuesday announced that there were no Covid-19 deaths in the past 24 hours.

This is the second day in a row that the number of deaths have remained zero.

Moreover, there are no patients who are asymptomatic or using ventilators at the moment. Additionally, Kagwe said samples tested were 1,933 while the number of patients discharged from hospital was 22.

In terms of gender, out of the 51 new cases, 32 were males while 19 were females. The ages of the new cases ranged from two years to 63.

Additionally, the CS said the number of close contacts who had been listed and followed up since the confirmation of the first case of the pandemic was 5, 470 cases. The number of people discharged after the follow-up of close contacts was 3, 806 while the number of people still being monitored is 1,664.

Overall figures of Covid-19 in Kenya

The total number of samples tested for Coronavirus is 46, 784. People who have tested positive for Coronavirus in Kenya are 963 at the moment. The number of recoveries in Kenya is 358, therefore the active cases are 555.

World Analysis

In United States of America, 1.49 million people have tested positive for coronavirus. The country has the largest number of Covid-19 cases in the world. South Africa has 15, 515 Covid-19 cases, Uganda has 227 while Somalia has 1,421 confirmed cases.

On the 30th day after the pandemic outbreak, the US only had 15 cases. However, on the 60th day the number of cases had risen to 14, 250 after 14, 235 new Covid-19 cases were confirmed.  On day 30, Kenya had 191 cases but on day 60 the number of cases had risen to 715.

The CS urged people to observe the measures set in place to combat coronavirus pandemic.
