Labour and Social Protection CS Alfred Mutua has said the national job recruitment programme remains suspended and remains on hold until further notice.
Mutua noted that despite the official announcement made across all ministry communication channels and his social media platforms, some individuals are still turning up at recruitment stations.
“I wish to clarify that the only ongoing recruitment exercise is the Kisumu recruitment drive, scheduled for Friday, 7th to Saturday, 8th February 2025, on the sidelines of the Nyanza Investment Conference, targeting job seekers from Nyanza counties. There are currently no other active recruitment activities under the Ministry’s mandate,” he said in the statement.
He urged those seeking opportunities abroad to disregard the earlier recruitment schedule, which was set to run until February 20, 2025, and to rely solely on official communication from the Ministry for any future updates.
“Further details on the next steps will be communicated in due course. We appreciate your patience and cooperation,” Mutua said.
The communication comes a day after hundreds of youth were stranded outside Eldoret Polytechnic in Uasin Gishu county on Thursday after turning up for a foreign job recruitment exercise advertised by the Labour ministry.
The youth said they reported at the institution as early as 5 am, only to be turned away by the security at the gate who said they had no such information.
There was a similar case happened at the Kisii National Polytechnic, Kisii county, last week.
