On Sunday night, K24 fired many employees, including popular news anchors and presenters through SMS.
Mediamax has been trying to stay afloat for a while now. The covid-19 situation only made it worse.
In April Mediamax issued a notice saying the salaries will be slashed by 50%. Employees took the matter to court.
They claimed some employees had not been paid salaries for the past two months and were suffering under leadership of CEO Ken Ngaruiya.
Moreover, they wrote a letter to President Uhuru Kenyatta (who owns Mediamax) begging him to help them.
However, a few days later most of the employees were fired.
