Health CAS Dr Rashid Aman announced the highest number of patients who have recovered from coronavirus since the pandemic broke out in Kenya.
Speaking at Afya House, he also announced 95 new covid-19 cases within the last 24 hours.
“Today I’m delighted to inform you that we have discharged 97 patients from various hospitals countrywide within the last 24 hours,” Dr Aman said.
“This is the highest number of recoveries we have recorded in a single 24-hour period. This now raises our tally of recoveries to 849,” Health CAS said.

“We are recording more covid-19 recoveries. This is an indication that if the virus is detected early and proper care availed, recovery is almost certain,” Dr Aman added.
Kenya tested 1096 samples within the last 24 hours and now there are 2, 872 confirmed covid-19 cases. The number of discharges now stands at 849.
Dr Aman thanked the health workers for doing an amazing job in treating covid-19 patients.
“Most of our hospitals that are attending to positive cases have done an exceptional job in managing these cases. This is why we have dedicated much effort to upgrade both infrastructure and human resource capacities in our healthcare systems,” he said.
The total number of samples tested so far is 98, 439. One person died within the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths to 85.
