Safaricom has closed its shop in Thika Road Mall after one staff tested positive for covid-19.
CEO Peter Ndegwa said Safaricom customers will still get services from other branches while the shop is cleaned and sanitized.
“This morning Safaricom PLC was notified that one of our staff members working at the Thika Road Mall shop has tested positive for COVID-19,” reads a statement from Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa.
“The employee is currently in isolation and receiving appropriate medical attention,”

Moreover, Safaricom has already informed all staff that were working with the infected employee.
They are currently undergoing counselling to ensure their safety and well-being.
“The health and well-being of our staff and customers is our top most priority. We are fully supporting our affected colleagues and their families through the recovery period,” CEO Ndegwa said.
Additionally, Safaricom will provide all necessary medical care and psychological support required to ensure the well-being of the staff.
Mr Ndegwa encouraged their customers to access services from other nearby shops as well as through their online self-service platforms such as MySafaricomApp.
