Uganda Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda has gone into self-isolation after coming into contact with individuals who tested positive for coronavirus.
PM Rugunda, however, said he has tested negative for the virus, but was self-quarantining as a precaution.
“Friends, I have gone into self-isolation after some of my contacts tested positive for #COVID19. My own test result is negative, however, I have taken this decision as a health recommended measure,” the Prime Minister tweeted on Friday.

He made the announcement soon after Uganda’s Ministry of Health reported that 35 more people had tested positive for the virus, pushing the country’s tally of confirmed Covid-19 cases to 557.
Health Services Director Dr Charles Olaro said all the 35 cases are Ugandans.
“Seven of the confirmed cases are truck drivers who arrived from South Sudan through the Elegu border point, two are truckers who arrived from Kenya via the Busia border, while three are from Lira, Malaba and Orabo points of entry,” Dr Olaro said in a statement posted on the Ministry of Health social media platforms.
