Kenyans woke up to a rather hilarious news item when a Nairobi resident ‘expressed’ interest to serve the city as a Deputy Governor.
Philip Sogot Chepsat facilitated a paid-up advert in a local daily paper urging Nairobi governor Mike Sonko to award him the chance of deputizing the county chief.
Citing his strong conviction. Sogot assured the governor, and Nairobians, of substantive service delivery.
He made reference to his undergraduate qualifications combined with a 15-year experience portfolio in management and public service.
He hoped that his new communication tactic will attract Sonko’s interest given that he has made earlier attempts to share his availability.
We can all wait and see how Sonko, an acclaimed political dramatist will respond to this public inquiry. However, his attitude towards the vacant deputy governor position displays the character of a county boss keen on running a one man show.
We wish him best of luck and a satisfactory response on his ‘offer’.
