Eritrea extends international flights ban for another 21 days

• Eritrea banned international flights on March 25, after three of its nationals arrived from Dubai on March 21 and tested positive for coronavirus.

• On Monday, the country’s Ministry of Health announced that a 61-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man were diagnosed positive for Covid-19 from 14 quarantined people who were tested on that day.

ASMARA – Eritrea has extended its ban on international flights for 21 more days, Information Minister Yemane Meskel has said.

“Passenger Flights to/from Eritrea were banned for two weeks on 25 March 2020. This is extended now in accordance with Article 11 of the Guidelines of the High Level Task Force on Covid-19 of April 1; which “supplements & supersedes” all previous measures and is effective for 21 days,” Meskel tweeted on Wednesday.

Eritrea banned international flights on March 25, after three of its nationals arrived from Dubai on March 21 and tested positive for coronavirus.

“All commercial passenger flights to and from Eritrea not allowed from midnight today, March 25,” Meskel said.

On Monday, the country’s Ministry of Health announced that a 61-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man were diagnosed positive for Covid-19 from 14 quarantined people who were tested on that day.

One of the patients had returned home prior to the ban on Flights.

In total, Eritrea has 31 confirmed cases.

Among the measures, Eritrea has taken to curb the spread of coronavirus include shutting down of all schools and banning public transport in all the cities
