According to Ford Party, Wetangula had failed to champion the party’s campaign to unite the country. He also interfered with the party’s campaign to win 2017 elections. He also did not “provide inspiring leadership to the party” and was mentioned in the Dubai gold saga in 2019.

Ford Kenya Party’s Organizing Secretary Chris Mandu was also ousted.

Currently, Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi has replaced Wetangula as leader of FORD party on an interim basis.
