Netizens were angered by how the politicians gathered and did not even practice social distancing rules. Some politicians were not wearing masks as well.

The ministry of Health banned all public gatherings. However, Atwoli still invited more than 40 politicians to discuss issues that affected the Luhya community.

1. Today I hosted 40 Members of National Assembly, 4 Governors, 10 Senators, Speaker Ken Lusaka, CS Eugine Wamalwa, Speaker Beatrice Elachi and other eminent Luhya leaders to discuss issues that centered around Luhya unity and prosperity. pic.twitter.com/xEQ3EsQt2y

2. They unanimously nominated me, Governor Oparanya and Waziri Wamalwa to lead negotiations with government and future political repositioning. We have resolved to start negotiations with GoK to revive the sugar industry and establish other viable industries in the region.

However, many netizens took to social media to criticize the politicians for ignoring restrictions.

Some of the preventive measures they ignored include the ban on public gathering, wearing of masks and maintaining a social distance of 1 meter.

This must be the indiscipline Health CS Mutahi Kagwe keeps on talking about. The problem is, he keeps on screaming at Kenyan youths for not social distancing yet it’s the old covid vulnerable men and women in politics who keep on breaking all the guidelines????!!

Atwoli you said corona was part of reggea. I now have all the reason to believe it. Some of your bald headed friends are not wearing a mask and the social distancing of less than 0.23centimetres is encouraging

@MOH_Kenya @DrPatrickAmoth @DrMercyHealth These people are making a Mockery of your Covid-19 Restrictions. But Since they’re from the Politically Correct Side, Nothing will happen to them.

Atwoli your The gathering is beyond 15 people as per government directives, it is needless to encourage citizens to uphold while abusing the very law. Shameful to see also CS when should be assisting president in enforcement of directives.
