Blogger and owner of Kahawa Tungu Robert Alai, has claimed that Margaret Kobia’s PhD is fake. He urged the DCI to investigate the matter quickly and come up with conclusive evidence.

Margaret Kobia, Cabinet Secretary in Ministry of Public Service and Gender Affairs, has a Master of Education (MEd) degree specializing in teacher education.

She also has a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Human Resource Education and Entrepreneurship from the University of Illinois at Urbana.

“I have been reliably informed that the PhD held by Professor Margaret Kobia is FAKE. Hey KOT DCI, investigate this,” Robert Alai said via social media.

These allegations come after CS Kobia defended Former Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru after her impeachment by MCAs.

On Wednesday, Kobia labelled Anne Waiguru a strong woman leader and received backlash from a section of Kenyans.

“It is unfortunate that Governor Anne Waiguru’s term is being cut short by an impeachment. This is an indicator that some of us do not value strong women leadership,” reads a statement from CS Kobia.

“We are disappointed that the governor is being impeached during the fight against covid-19 which is negatively impacting on social economic development of the country,”

The CS supported the (COWA) Common Women Agenda’s demand that due process should be followed and justice served after the impeachment of Waiguru.

Waiguru was impeached after a total of 23 MCAs out of 33 voted to remove her from office.

This was done at the Kirinyaga County Assembly on Tuesday morning.

She had been accused of gross violation of the constitution by failing to deliver the annual state of the county address to the county assembly.

She is also accused of using her office to unconstitutionally benefit by receiving travel allowances amounting to Sh10.6 million yet she never travelled.
