Senator Arrested in a Dramatic Ambush

Kakamega Senator, Cleophas Malala, was on Friday afternoon, arrested in Kisumu by detectives from Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI). At the time, the sleuths did not state reasons behind the Senator’s arrest.

Multiple reports from news sources indicate that Hon. Malala may have attracted the interest of security officers due to his alleged role in the current skirmishes taking place in Matungu, Kakamega.

Matungu, has for the past few days, experienced mysterious cold blood murders. The Mayoni Member of County Assembly, Libinus Odour was earlier arrested in connections to the Matungu killings.

It was only on Thursday that the Cabinet Secretary for Interior, Dr. Fred Matiang’I visited the area and ordered a security crackdown.  The CS ordered the deployment of General Service Unit (GSU). More than 20 people had been killed in the attacks.

Senator Malala is, currently, detained at Kisumu Central Police Station.
