Almost an year after the retirement of Edward Ouk0. President Uhuru Kenyatta has nominated Nancy Janet Kabui Gathungu from Nyeri as the new Auditor General.
The office fell vacant in August 2019.
“Gathungu was the first among the top three (3) candidates presented to His Excellency the President for nomination by the Recruitment Panel for the Selection of the Auditor General as set out in law,” State House spokesperson Kanze Dena-Mararo said in a statement on Friday.
Gathungu’s name has been forwarded to the National Assembly for vetting.
In an interview on  Tuesday, Ouko told Citizen T any reason why the appointment of the Auditor General had delayed.
