President Willaim Ruto on Tuesday nominated Beatrice Askul Moe as the next East African Community Affairs (EAC) and Regional Development Cabinet Secretary.
In the communication by Head of Public Service Felix Koskei, President Ruto also nominated Dorcas Oduor, Secretary Public Prosecutions at the Office of Director of Public Prosecutions, as the next Attorney General, setting the stage for her to become the first female AG.
Koskei said Moe is a Social Scientist and a Consultant, having previously served as the County Executive Committee Member in charge of Water, Irrigation, Agriculture and Land Reclamation in Turkana County.
She has also previously served as a Director of the Rift Valley Water Services Board, Chairperson Technical Committee of the Rift Valley Water Services Board, Chairperson Audit Committee to the Rift Valley Water Services Board, Project Officer AMREF Kenya Turkana Project and Relief Officer for the Oxfam Turkana Relief Program.
The C.S Nominee has specialized skills in development and management of community affairs, towards behavioral and social change in communities.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts Decree in Social Sciences (Social Work) from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa, and is undertaking her Master of Governance and Ethics. She has undertaken other training forums and cerifications.
She succeeds Peninah Malonza, who was among CSs fired by President Ruto.
FIRST FEMALE AG
Oduor, the AG nominee, is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya, with legal experience of over 30 years.
Currently serving as Secretary Public Prosecution at the office of the Director of Public Prosecution, Oduor has previously worked as Deputy Director Public Prosecutions (ODPP), Head of Economic, International and Emerging Crimes Department) (ODPP), Deputy Chief State Counsel and as a State Counsel the (department of Public Prosecution) at the then Office of the Attorney General.
She holds a Masters of Arts in International Conflict Management (UoN), a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree (UoN) and a Diploma in Law from Kenya School of Law.
If approved by the National Assembly, Oduor will make history as the first Woman AG, and will succeed Justin Muturi, who has been moved to Public Service as the Cabinet Secretary .
These were the last pending appointments in the reconstituted Cabinet.
