Former Kasarani MP John Njoroge Chege has been found guilty of soliciting and receiving a bribe of Sh100,000.

Consequently, Njoroge was on Friday ordered to pay a fine of Sh1.3 million by the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court.

Magistrate Lawrence Mugambi convicted the former MP for seeking and receiving the bribe from a contractor to facilitate payment of Sh3.3 million from the Constituency Development Fund for the construction of a tuition block at Babadogo Secondary School.

“The former MP will pay Sh650,000 for soliciting the bribe and Sh650,000 for receiving the bribe seven years ago. He will serve one year imprisonment in default,” EACC said in a statement on Friday.
