One afternoon on 12th April 2019, Dr. Assel Herera Correa, a general physician and Dr. Landy Rodriguez, a surgeon, were activating their normal work-life schedule. They were in medical patrols around the hot and dusty town of Mandera when gunmen ambushed their vehicle, attacked them, killed their bodyguard and kidnapped them into unfamiliar lands.
Since then, little is known about the government’s efforts to rescue Dr. Landy Rodriguez and Dr. Herera Correa.
The Mandera Police Commander, Jeremiah Ole Kosiom admits that the government is not aware of their current hostage location. He, however, insists on knowing that they are well alive, wherever point they are.
Little is known, by the public, on the development of a comprehensive rescue plan by security organs or foreign affairs’ officials.
