The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has sent a contingent of sleuths to scandal-ridden Masaai Mara University.
The move followed an investigative expose conducted by Citizen TV that brought out gaps in financial accountability at the Narok based university.

The expose, aired on Sunday evening, firmly placed the institution’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mary Walingo as the architect of fraudulent activities involving frequent withdrawals of large amounts of money, in cash.

Hassan Mugambi, a Citizen TV reporter, confirmed that DCI officers were already in the school’s compound. Speaking from the varsity grounds, Mugambi further indicated that the detectives were interrogating various officers with a view of activating crucial leads.

In the expose aired by Royal Media Services, Spencer Sankale, an accountant at the academic facility, blew the lid on how Prof. Walingo, through her driver, orchestrated massive withdrawal of funds without reference to financial flow regulations.
The damning media report opened a can of worms in activities that take place within institutions, highly expected to interpret ethical integrity.
