Following Kenya’s suspension of international flights starting Wednesday, the UK High Commission in Nairobi is working with the Kenyan government to ensure all British Nationals who wish to leave Kenya are able to do so, envoy Jane Marriott has said.

In a recorded message posted on her social media platforms, Marriott said they will prioritize the vulnerable people (health issues, elderly) or those who have young children, who can call the High Commission on +254202844000.

“It is not possible to take calls from each and every one of you but rest assured that both my team and Foreign Office globally are working hard on this issue and to get you the information that you require,” Marriott said.

She said the best way for British nationals to get information is to check the Foreign Travel Advice page and follow email alerts as well as @UKinKenya on Twitter.

On Sunday, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe announced all international flights have been suspended starting Wednesday midnight, with the exemption of cargo planes, whose crew will be quarantined.

Consequently, Kenyans who will not have arrived are advised to remain where they are.

“For those who will arrive between now and Wednesday, they will be quarantined a government facility at their own cost,” Kagwe said.

Kagwe also ordered all bars closed and noted some churches have ignored the directive not to gather.
