The second is a Rwandese man aged 32 who arrived from Dubai pm on March 19 and was detected by airport screening upon arrival and consequently tested.

The third was a Swedish man aged 26, who had travelled from his country on March 3 and reported symptoms on March 18. The incubation period of Covid-19 is 14 days.

The other two are local cases, one of a frequent traveller aged 22 who reported symptoms on March 18, while the second man aged 24 arrived in Rwanda on March 19 from India via Doha, Qatar.

The ministry said all the patients are stable and remain isolated.

‘The tracing of all contacts has been conducted for further management,” the Ministry of Health said in a statement.

They also ordered that anyone who arrived in Rwanda in the last two weeks should self-quarantine for 14-days and follow the ministry’s guidelines.

As preventive measures, the Ministry of Local Government-Rwanda has ordered that all bars will close at 9pm in Kigali and 7pm in rural areas.

The initial two-week closure of schools and places of worship is also set to be “renewed and expanded based on circumstances”.
