The President also assured his new Burundi counterpart of Kenya’s readiness to work with his administration for the peace, stability and progress of his country, the Great Lakes Region and the East African Community.

During the swearing-in in Gitenga, Kenya was represented by Foreign Affairs Chief Administrative Secretary Ababu Namwamba. He was accompanied by Ambassador Kenneth Vitisia.

The previous administration of President Pierre Nkirunziza was caged in foreign relation due to its poor human right record and an attempted coup when the former President attended an EAC meeting In Tanzania.
